Heating the whole house for the one room you actually occupy is the most expensive way to stay warm. A well-chosen space heater does the opposite: it heats the spot you're in, while you're in it. Here's how to work out the real cost, pick the right wattage and avoid the classic mistakes.

The real cost per hour: 10-second math
